Yes, Myra Canyon Trestles have now been opened again by BC Parks for day use only, effective July 1, 2020. So we can all go for some glorious fresh air, beautiful scenery, wildflower viewing, and even some possible wildlife viewing opportunities. Keep a sharp eye out for bears as they do frequent the area.
Enjoy your walk or cycle through the park and don’t forget to stop and enjoy the scenery. Be sure to take the time to read some of the signage and learn more about this interesting area.
Remember, motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trail. Class 1 E-bikes are allowed providing they meet the BC Parks standard. (See for more info @ http://bcparks.ca/recreation/biking/). Most motorized wheelchairs/scooters for those with physical impairments are also welcomed, providing they are not oversized, due to the narrow access to the trail.
And your doggies will love to walk with you too, but please keep them on leash, pick up after them and take their droppings home with you for disposal.
Don’t forget that “physical distancing” is in effect, so please respect others’ rights to be safe from COVID. And cyclists are reminded to ride responsibly and let walkers know that you are coming up behind them. Please walk your bikes by pedestrians on the trestles to prevent accidents on the narrow decking.
Smokers – please avoid smoking if the area is extremely hot and dry, as this area is subject to forest fires. And if you must smoke, please ensure your cigarette butt is completely cold before disposing of it.
Most importantly – Have fun and enjoy this great trail.
